As a values-centered company committed to making a difference and showing compassion, it is only natural that our environmental impact is something we discuss often, and more importantly, aim to minimize. One of our goals is to become carbon neutral for each saliva measurement. This is an incredibly inspiring and motivating target we aim to achieve within the next few years.
Nevertheless, we are deeply aware the current global climate crisis calls for urgent action and concrete steps to reduce our carbon footprint. Therefore, we have devised a staged approach to reach that goal, ensuring that all the efforts in between contribute to reducing our carbon emissions. The first step we are taking towards that goal is to replace the inne STRIP cassette with bio-based plastics.
This change means that throughout 2022, we will fully transition to 100% mass-balance bio-based plastics. Such a transition is no small feat for a medical device product. For us, any change to the product requires extensive testing and validation to make sure that we don't sacrifice your safety and the product's performance even in the slightest way. We aim to qualify more bio-based materials and dive more into the biodegradability of the whole STRIP in the future. We are also looking into reducing the amount of material we use in the first place, but especially into exploring other innovative approaches that can bring us closer to our long-term goal.
